I got a hand crank for my D2 from the nice folks at BP Utah/Rover Connection:
http://www.bputah.com/Disco%20Parts/Land_Rover_Discovery_Sunroof_Handle.html
It's listed as a D2 hand crank, but I don't see how it can be made to fit. The square shaft on the crank is not long enough to engage the stud on the winding mechanism, which in any event is not shaped to receive it.

Is there a piece missing that I don't have? Is it perhaps the wrong crank?

Thanks for any help.

I think my sunroof motor just quit working and this might be a cheap bastard way of fixing it. I am going to look into RAVE for this as well and see if I can come up with some answers.

If you are trying to convert from a switched sunroof to a manual one you are likely missing a few things. In the RAVE manual it lists the following for manual sunroofs.

1)Spacer - manual sunroof regulator
2) Regulator- manual sunroof
3) Handle - manual sunroof
4) Screw- manual sunroof regulator
5) Screw- manual sunroof handle

If you had the spacer, regulator, and both screws you would be able to convert (which is what I am thinking about doing).

The way the sunroof opens and closes is the same, via gear drive. Whatever is going to open and close the sunroof has to have a gear on the end of it. So the regulator from the list above would have a gear set on one end of it and a receptor for the handle on the other end.

Can anyone post interior pictures of what a Disco looks like with a manual sunroof handle? If anyone has any....

I wish I could post the pictures of everything taken apart and the dead spiders I found up there.

Please, if someone has the ability, post up a picture of what the interior looks like with a manual sunroof. I have a feeling to convert would require interior trim pieces as well. Not as cheap of a fix as one might think.

Roverland has sunroof motors for 125.00 and I bet Tillery,Drillbit or JohnB might have a better deal than that. Would take about an hour at most to replace and put back together if the motor was in hand.

I work my sunroofs out daily, even with an SD rack. Every morning on the way to work, and usually again in the evening.

It is my way of keeping them happy (knock on wood)

I had a VW with sunroof and it routinely shit the bed.
