Thinking of upgrading my original starter and alternator - 180K on the original parts. I want to "pre-pair" them before they leave me stranded.

Mean Green has no LR application on their website, and they didn't answer my email. Do they make start/alt applications for the D2? I know I've seen D1's with mean green stickers and others have sung their praises, but that was at least 5 years ago.

Do I even need to get a high output alternator? I've been told the stock alternator is actually quite good, and is a 100 amp unit. I will get a winch in a year or so, but do not plan on a great deal of extreme recreational wheeling/winching. Other than that, it's fridge and lights.

Any reason to get a different-than-stock starter while I'm at it? The original has performed flawlessly.

Thanks.

D2s have the 130 AMP. I just replaced my alternator on my D2 with a brand new OEM (Bosh) from rover connection. They had the best price I found.
The alternator will show signs of failure but in my experiences once the signs are present the alternator is dead soon after! In my recent case the battery symbol on the dash flashed briefly and then went out which prompted me to test my charging system...sure enough the alternator was reading weak on the volt tester. Although, it was still working (charging) I went ahead and swaped it out with a new one so that it wont slowly kill my brand new very $$$ battery. Same thing with a poor weak battery...it will slowly kill your alternator; both must be in good working condition in order for either not to die prematurely.
Just my :twocents:.
