D2 getting senile?

When I get into my D2 and drive away, for the first 15 mins or so, I get a delay with every use of the indicator.

I click the lever, and nothing happens for a few seconds - then the indicator operates as normal.

This happens in both directions - and keeps happening until the car is warmed up.

After it's warmed up - the indicator works as normal every time for the rest of the journey.

Come the next day - the delay is back.

Battery is good - D2 sits on a trickle charger if left more than a few days.

So, WTF is going on? :ack:

I have the same issue for the past two years, but only when the outside temp is below 40 F or so. After things warm up, the engine and then the passenger compartment, about 20 minutes or so, all is well. I thought about looking at it, but just am careful when I first start out now.

Is there a flasher that plugs in somewhere like on other vehicles that can just be replaced?

It's not the relay, it is the light stalk. Change that and your problem will be solved.

Makes sense - on investigation I noted two relays for indicators, left and right - so unlikely that both have gone wonky in the same way.

I'll search on the indicator stalk and see what's involved - thx.

It's an easy job. Remove the top and bottom steering column covers then it's a couple of small screw to remove. You'll have to turn your wheel about 90 degrees to get to them.
