So I?ve had this CB installed and all was working fine until a few months ago. It powers up and is tunable, however people can hear me, but I cannot hear anything at all from the handset.

What I?ve done to troubleshoot:
-connected another persons same handset to test and same issue
-replaced remote box
-checked wiring/fuses
-checked antennae cable

Anybody have any clues to what might be wrong? I appreciate your input.

Same thing happened to me...long story short nothing fixed it and they replaced it with a new one. The issue was in the handset only and not in the control unit. My new unit has been working perfectly.

Good Luck,
Nomad

Thanks Christian...I bought it from Amazon a couple years ago and doubt it's still under warranty. I may call up Cobra to see if they can do something about it.

PT- Not that I know of, thanks.

you can buy a new controll box. they sell them so you can install in differn't vehicles and swap on handset around. i would suspect the speaker switch when you plug in a speaker it turns off the speaker on the handset. take the box apart and disconect the wire that switches it then try again. my laptop plug sticks everynow and then i have to plug in headphones and unplug a few times untill the switch releases.

I bought a new control box- to no avail.

I've even tried a external speaker box and headphones which also did not work.

BTW- You going this weekend Sean?

my 75 crapped out. sound kept going in and out. could transmit, just couldn't hear anything. at first, i could rap the handset again my palm and it would come back. finally stopped for good. sent it to Cobra, think i paid around $45 including shipping and they sent it back fixed.

Did you say you swapped out the handset and it didn't work. Then swapped out hte control box and it still didn't work? Aren't those the only two parts besides the antenna?

I know if you plug in an external speaker it cuts out the speaker in the mic. So possibly something in the control box thinks something is plugged in when it's not?

But that doesn't make sense if you swapped the control box. Did you plug in your mic to someone elses control box?
