I am sure this has been hashed over many times but i have not been able to locate it with the search.

What do i need to be able to install the transfer case out of a newer model, with a locking center dif, into a 90 RRC. Does it require new driveshafts? mounts? what kind of modifications to bolt up to the engine or will it line up?

basically i am looking for a parts list, and since i have no money, i am trying to aquire the parts before i start into it. I would rather not have the truck down too long.

The swap is pretty straightforward.

You need:

LT-230 with CDL linkage
front driveshaft
right side frame mount

While the LT is on the bench do the front output bearing.

You need to watch which splined shaft you get for the connection between tc and trans. Mine came from a '94 Disco so I didn't have this issue.

Remove/discard the shift solenoid (not sure that is the proper name) from the case. You don't need it and if it fails it becomes a problem.

All said and done I think mine cost me a little over $500 for everything including new fluids, seals and bearings.

Searches aren't kept for a long time, you're better off linking to a thread from the search results.

theres a good thread with some links to pirate 4x4. keep looking. I suggest you go ahead and replace all of your motor mounts while you are in there. pull the input gear to make it a lot easier to bolt the t-case up. the bw brake cable is 4' long. You will most likely need the output shaft from the transmission from the donor Disco. I didnt replace any seals or bearings im sure ill regret this in a few more thousand miles. You should remove the entire console. adjusting the lt230 linkage was harder than bolting the transfercase up. the list of what you need is spot on. I like the round shifter knob for the LT and last but not least youll need to get the proper sticker for the fuse panel cover.

Maybe I missed it, but don't you need the stub shaft from the Disco as well? Cambo reminded me of that when I took the one out of the DII and glad he did.

If it was mentioned, apologies.
