So I can't seem to find the pre installed CD changer wire that is supposed to be under the seat. It seems that mine is one of the few that does not have that. Is it even possible to get a CD player hooked up? If I buy a harness (Atlantic British for $29) and an OEM CD changer would it even work?

Also, the dealer tells me, "there isn't any way to fix the cruise control..." when it trys to find the right speed for five minutes after pushing the SET button.................

If you don't find a connector under the passenger's seat you must have a SD7 like me. You will need the harness.

I bought an Alpine package from Autotoys.com for <$250.00 that included the adapter and had it installed by a local shop. I considered doing it myself but after 90 minutes of trying to jimmy out the radio with my less than Macgyver skills, I went to a SW PDX Car Toys and waved the white flag. I was hoping they would just take out the radio and I would do the rest but for an hour of labor they did the whole thing including mounting. Well worth the $50!

Under $300 bucks and I was Going Down the Road Feeling Bad.

Thanks, that is good to know. I live in PDX too. You bought an aftermarket? We tried that twice with our DI and couldn't get them to work - actually, one was the same model number as the original LR CD player and it still wouldn't work with the secret-coded-head unit.

Anyway, is there any chance you could get me a part number for the changer you bought? The dealer wants about $600 for the LR changer, so $250 ain't bad!

Interested in a nice DI for sale? I would love to sell it so someone in Portland who will use all the upgrades the way they were intended.

Yes, if you get the cable, you can install the changer. It's a pain in the butt & helps if you have small hands with long thin fingers, because you've got to route it in some pretty tight places. You'll need the radio removal tool to get your stereo out. I know there used to be a tech install article around somewhere. I've done it myself at night with a flashlight in the freezing cold (it was a surprise birthday present for my mom), so I'm sure you can do it. You aren't alone... most of the SD/S variants from 2002 on don't have the cable installed.

Thanks for the info.

I use a coat hanger to get the stereo out of my Saab, it has four small holes, coat hanger works perfectly.

I can probably figure somthing out to use as the tool.
