Cargo Area Carpet Replacement

I haul a lot of equipment in the disco. The rear carpet was getting pretty bad. I wanted one of those rubber matts to fit back there, but they only cover up to the seats, when the seats are down. Since I usually have the seats tucked up to get in more gear, this would only cover half the floor. A few months ago someone suggested I rhino Line it, but didn't like this idea. Had done it on my jeep before my conversion to rovers, and the road noise was anoying, as was the smell for a few days.

I went and bought a rubber matt for truck beds from Cal Ranch. Got a few tie downs while I was there. I used the carpet as a pattern, and it made an excellent cargo area flooring. It also didn't affect the road noise at all.
All in all, I'm pretty happy with it.

Thanks, It's a little dirty in the pictures, just because I have been using it. I thought I'de post them up because I remember a few others agreeing with me back when I was asking why the available matts only went to the seats in the down position.

Nice work - beat me to it. Now go get a T-50 trox bit and unbolt the seatbelts. I didn't and I had to replace them. Not cheap.

This is another reason why I like this site - just yesterday I was standing in my garage wondering what I should do with the increasingly filthy carpet in the back of my P38.

Is it just attached by the tie-downs? If so, any buckling if you slide heavy things across it? And did you lay it down right over the existing carpet?

Thanks,
Scott

Just a side step..... There is a updated Tailgate "Dovetail" to address rattling from the rear door. I can post the TSB if you would like.

The pictures show you have the old style.

It's pretty thick and heavy stuff. It's also a real pain to cut. I tried a utlity knife going through several razor blades, industrial sizzors, tin snips, and nothing seemed to work well. Just took a lot of time.

I just used the tie downs, and the rear strip to hold it down. Hauled all sorts of stuff on it and not had it buckle when loading or unloading.

I removed the carpet, and stuck it on a shelf to save incase I ever sell it. I suppose if you wanted you could lay down some double sided tape as well to attatch it, but mine seems to work just fine.

Good luck,

Ryan
