Lol

Okay back to Todd and the Bullshit he has been spewing...

I'm bored so I thought I would look up this "Professional Photographer" ( http://www.toddhollyphotography.com/aboutme/toddhollyphotography_007.htm ) any way he claimed in an earlier post that he shot for Von Dutch, then later claims it was just a spec shoot, yet on his website he is claiming a Von Dutch ad. A weak over exposed shot of three frumpy butts would never get used.

Then I was like well he has to have some Dallas Cowboys playing some ball... Nope not one shot. Looked like some kiddies playing ball.

He is a professional day in and day out yet his latest news story is from June.

The thing that gets me is he claims so high and mighty about his Proness yet he is a complete fraud. And it is people like him that give photographers a bad name. Does he shoot swimsuit models or blurred watches? No wait I shoot the Dallas Cowboys day in and day out and if Im not there Im in Miami shooting for Von Dutch....

And claiming A&F who uses Bruce Weber was just plain dumb. To even think that he could somehow be in the same universe as him is unfathomable.

Enough with his crap!

Again dude I told you they were all test shoots....I don't necessarily keep my photography site updated on a daily basis because I don't have too...it servers it's purpose. The last big news event I shot is on my site and that was in August for the Ft. Worth Star Telegram....My photography is out there and VERY accessible and easy to look up and I use to have it linked from my Sig here...so you can talk all the smack you want too...it isn't going to bother me any. I do not have a formal education in photography and never stated anywhere that I do or did. I have been shooting pictures for well over 18yrs...and only 5yrs ago did I finally start doing it full time.

I have references for anyone needing to hire me for a project...I do not have to justify my photography to you....you can insult me and my work to your little hearts content. ;)

That is some really great photography...some mind blowing stuff....but you know as well as I do there are many different levels of photography. I'm not saying my stuff is the best ...mearly what I am saying is I shoot for paid assighnments...and have very happy customers who are willing to give me references for other work.

I got my first camera a Pentax K-1000 full manual in 1986 or 87...my first full SLR which I still OWN. I have lots of pictures...even some published work...but I am not going to post it up to have to prove any point to you.

I am no Ansel Adams and don't claim to be...there are allot of photographers better then I, but then allot that aren't. I also have other photographers who would vouch for me as well...if you want to take it to that level.

Hey! I just looked over on my desk and there is a Maxell tape with the pic of the Chair Guy on it!

I was doing some office cleaning a couple of weeks ago and pulled out the tape, turned it over a few times, then thought: "What the hell do I still have this for?"

I put it back on my desk though so I guess thats why I still have it. Terminal pack rat syndrome.

On the other front: Todd, that is great that you love photography. I can appreciate that. I share that some love. I have been to your site and from a constructive point of view it may help to take some classes to learn some of the basic principles. Things like thirds, composition, post-processing, and lighting come to mind. It is amazing how one boring thing shot with a different composition can all of a sudden look like a masterpiece.

And no, I am not a pro. I have taken a few classes and even own a video series (eghad!). I am just a guy with some camera equipment who likes to shoot on occasion.

Hey Curtis,

Thanks for the constructive critique....I said I have no formal photography education as a b/a or masters at some major University. I took photography in High School and worked on the year book...well WAY back when...I have also been to the Nikon School of Photography for shooting digital. I also have attended Rolando Gomez work shops and a few others. It is VERY easy for one photographer to set and pick apart another photographers work. I know some VERY well paid photographers that shoot great stuff, but every time I look at their stuff I find things I don't like in composition and contrast...so again...each to his own. I make a living as a photographer....and there are allot of quote Photographers with a history of formal education in photography that can't claim that.

Again I make my living with photography...end of story....if you can't stand that then tuff luck.

On a side note...I just got this from email and I better not answer it since we have Montanablur and Slade...master photographers here....can you guy's please help this guy out and I will return your answers to him...last thing I want to do is give another young aspiring photographer more mis-information from the likes of me.

Hey Todd..this is W.R.

I saw you on discoweb and added you as a friend. I know your a professional photographer and photography is a major hobby of mine but im still pretty dumb when it comes to equipment and understanding how to use it all. Ive got a Canon 20D and DigiReb(POS I know, but the 20D makes up for it...). Anyway, Its time for me to get some better lenses. Right now ive just got:
Canon 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6
Canon 50mm 1:1.8 II
Canon 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 III
Canon 35-80mm 1:4-5.6 III

What im looking for is a nicer long range zoom lense, similar to my 75-300 but i want a nicer lense...mine is really shitty.
im also looking for a good lense for close ups of things like flowers, animals etc.

Do you have any reccomendations?

Thanks, W.R.

Naw....I'm not a professional photographer....I just play one on TV....looks like it is almost 2am...and all you Master Photogs must have had to turn in for the night....
I guess I am just a very well paid hobbiest ....whoo-hoo :D

Moral of the story is ....titles don't mean diddly sh%^ to me.

Professional to me is someone who does it for a LIVING...their lively hood etc....maybe my definition is wrong...so I will from now on just say I am a photographer and shoot images for a living. How is that...will that make you catty haters feel better about yourselves.

Worse than a bunch of women at a dinner party wearing the same dress.

Hey I have an idea go back to the punch bowl and fill your glass back to the top with more Hatoraid...lmao

To quote you:

"I have made allot of money over the years with adult sites, but I am sick of that business and completely burnt out on it....as I find it some what slimy as well....but again I don't judge other people that isn't my job. I also hope to be able to shut the WWinc site down as well, but right now it is a huge source of my income bringing in over $4k a month....and with shutting the other sites down has taken away almost half of my income on a monthly basis...but to me it has been worth it."

"right now it is a huge source of my income"

I bet all the guys shooting the stills for the next Debby Does Dallas were using donkey bags too right.

Donkey Bag....LMAO

Yeah, whatever.

He needs a good CANON macro and a CANON zoom lens that costs more than $800.00.

Simple as that.

He can shop around all day for the cheapest stuff, or he can buck up and spend some real cash and get the lenses that are right for the job.

I would have said he needs to spend at least $1200 on the long zoom he wants, but he's probably working within an unreasonable budget.

BTW, aside from the Maxell info, this thread still sucks.

Oh, and I do have to say that photographically the best image seen in this thread happens to be Ho's avatar.

This thread sucks beyond imagination.

Here are my lens suggestions. Keep in mind that your lens will probably outlast your digital body by several lifetimes:

Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS USM http://www.pictureline.com/product.php?id=59 -$1869 I shoot with this lens on occasion and even sporting events indoors with poor light and my popup flash it shoots well. Add a 550EX flash or shoot outdoors and it is awesome.

For an affordable macro this is a good lens. Since you just piled $1900 on the zoom $549 is quite reasonable: Canon EF 100mm f2.8 Macro USM http://www.pictureline.com/product.php?id=63 There is an L-series lens, but it is a f3.5 and costs nearly three times as much.

The Canon EF 16-35mm f2.8L USM is the one to get for wide angle: http://www.pictureline.com/product.php?id=54 but if $1500 is too much to swallow then this lens shoots mighty fine as well for half the money: Canon EF 17-40mm f4L USM http://www.pictureline.com/product.php?id=55

Damn Michael. Everytime I get into one of your galleries I am entranced. You have amazing talent and it is obvious you enjoy doing what you do. The thing that makes so many of your shots great is that you are just doing everyday things when you see the shot. At least it seems that way. No staging or set. Just grab the camera, maybe set a tripod, and shoot.

Awesome!
