Building a D110 crew-cab truck

I am still a little confused as to how Rover Accessories built the infamous silver D110 truck. I am sure it is registered and titled properly in CA. Which as we know is the Smog-Nazi capitol of the U.S.
Can someone spell it out for me. I really gotta have one of these. Even if it took a few years to import and build.
Thanks.

It's easy. The rules are simple. Just buy a 93 NAS Defender 110. Then you can build it any way you want. Want to remove the rear section and weld/bolt on a bed? No problem, import the bed form England and bolt it on. Want to change the engine to a diesel? No problem, import the motor form England and change it out.

This is what ECR has been doing for years. Start with a legal platform and change it to your liking. Don't try to import something and hope it will work out. You might get around your local officals, but the feds might not like it.

I would build off of a galvanized 109 frame that has been extended. All the various individual parts are not particularly hard to find, even at OK prices -- I'm talking a ground up build, not a retrofit or transformation.

I would go with NAS D110 frame and order parts from ECR or england. A freind of mine has a D-90 built by Rover accesories and it's very nice work. IF you have the CASH you could get them to build it. But if not start out with a D110 frame that you can get from ECR, that seems to be the best way. OR buy a rollin chassis of someone.

ECR won't sell you a frame. Read the site. They do not sell parts...

You'll have to have them build it...

Rover Down South, however, does have 110 frames in stock. Ask politely and put down the cash and Uncle George may just sell you a 110 300tdi roller...

A NAS frame and a right hand body from England sounds like a bad idea. Buy a complete Nas D90, get a 110 frame and buy a rear section from Equicar(sp). Sell off the unused D90 parts.

how much do you think it would be for them to build me a D110 crew cab with say 2' lift, Sg front bumper and nice int.

ECR gets the chassis from Richards... I have a NAS D110 chassis arriving in a few weeks for a custom build that a customer is doing. Not sure how he plans to register it- I think he's sourcing ex-MOD axles in Canada and using a 3.9 donor engine and ECU from a Range Rover Classic.

To have ECR build one- well, you have to buy a NAS 110 to start so that's $35K plus... then I'd guess they'd get $100K on top of that for a custom and wait 2+ years.

Just buy a NAS 110. There's always one around for sale somewhere. I heard Mike Boggs is selling one of his and it's a solid truck... used to be Stuart Moore's. I don't have Mike's email, but I think it would be VERY well cared for and priced right. I might see him this weekend, not sure- but I can get his contact info this weekend if you're serious.

SYoung . . Where about in Springfield are you? A guy in your area has one of my old D90s, a black ST with a small lift, 33s and lockers.

"There is also a permanent "SNORKLE" engine breather fitted which enables the vehicle to be driven through fords, streams and smaller rivers. An excellent all rounder and a world beating off-roader!"

I'm guessing he means "enables the vehicle to ford streams and smaller rivers" (and when does a smaller river cease to be a river and instead becomes a stream?)

If not- Escort, Tempo and Taurus owners beware... :D
