How does it come out is there pressure releases to squeeze or just yank it out?

turn counter clockwise and pull. when refitting exact opposite. you may have to pull the plunger side out when refitting to insure proper fit and function.

In that case I would go back to the dealer and ask them to fix it. Having it work only a few months certainly should fall under at least a goodwill warranty on their part and labor.

Before you do that you might look under there just to be sure the wires are plugged in and the switch is properly seated in it's mount.
