Borla exhaust on a classic lwb doesn't fit ??

Does anybody here have a long wheel base classic with the Borla exhaust system from the muffler back which is not cut or modified?
I ordered a Borla exhaust in October. The muffler fits fine. The tail pipe is not even close to fitting. It doesn't hang low enough or extend far enough. I called Borla and they said that according to the part number that this is the correct one. After many calls and emails I asked how can you have one part number for a single model truck which comes in both an 88 and 110 inch wheel base? The answer was that maybe they need to change the catalog to eliminate listing the lwb classic as available. Their R&D said that they only have one jig made up to fab an exhaust for the classic. I was also told that the jig may be damaged and thats why it doesn't fit. I was also told that they don't sell this system very often. The person I am working with has been sympathetic but to date I really have not made any progress. I took it to a muffler shop to get an estimate for modifications for fitment. When I brought this up with Borla they said that would void the warranty. When I told the muffler shop what I paid for the system the owner almost swallowed his cigarette. If nobody has successfully installed one of these, I am going to ask Borla for a refund. I may just ask a local shop to custom bend a stainless exhaust for me. A discouraging aside, the Borla rep said to his knowledge they have never refunded anything. They are happy to make a replacement on warranty, but they don't give back money. We'll see. If anyone cares to know I will post the outcome of the whole process.

I don't have a LWB, or borla exhaust, but I can see them using the same jig for both models, with a longer middle section and tailpipe depending on WB. The Hangers would probably be stretched out on the LWB from the driver's seat back. Can you measure the distance from the cat to the tailpipe location on both the stock and borla systems? or put them side by side.

If borla can't figure it out, hit up your local exhaust shop. they can do steel or stainless, even using the Borla aftermarket mufflers. I'll bet the price is pretty competitive too.

If you don't >need< new pipe, why not just have new mufflers/resonators welded in?

I just had the resonator cutoff my truck, so i'm just running a Flowmaster 50SUV in the middle... sound is pretty awesome, with just a slight drone around 1500RPM's... sounds angry!

Got a good deal on the muffler from a fellow DWebber... so total installed cost was less than $100. If I had bought a new muffler, cost would still have been less than $150.

Much less than the pricey Borla... but i'll admit they do make awesome sounding/quality exhausts (I had one on my Audi).

My stock system was badly deteriorated and I cut it off based on my confidence and $700.00 plus check for an exhaust that is heavily marketed as supremely engineered. Therefore I can't measure oem versus Borla. I did however try to install the Borla and it is not close.

The difference in length on the classics is handled by different cats. From the cats on back the exhausts are the same. That being said the Borla tailpipe doesn't fit. I helped a friend with his LWB and we had to heat and bend the pipe and also change the rear hanger slightly to make it fit. We screwed around with it for an hour or so before it stopped rubbing and vibrating. Its a pain but can be made to fit.

Based on this would it be fair to say that it reasonable to ask for a refund. Modification voids the million mile warranty. This was a pretty big line item in terms of dollars for the Rover. Their rep said I need to be prepared to return the whole system if I expect a refund. That's fine by me.

Greg do you recall abouot how long ago yours was installed?

I sell and have installed many Borla exhausts over the past few years with no real problems. Sometimes we would find it a bit more difficult to install in a truck with original y pipes....you have to consider the fact the amount of heat those things are under..they do change their shape over time and it can make it more difficult. if you got the system for a little over 700.00 though you did fairly well on price. I have been running a BORLA on my Disco now for about 4 yrs and have had no problems what so ever. AT first I can of liked the sound...NOW IT ANNOYS ME but it does drown out some of the other issues.
