BCU is not sending a ground signal preventing the starter from actuating. Other than replacing the BCU ($$$s) one suggestion was to insert a push button for the ground and use the button in addtiton to the key to start the truck. Has anyone used or seen this done?

Plenty of BCU's available, but you need Testbook or similar to set all the parameters and synchronise the speedo readings.

I've got one on my desk at the factory, but any secondhand unit might have issues.

I'm not too happy about overriding the BCU sequencing, but that's a choice for you to make.

Used go for under $100 usually, I'll sell you my spare for $50 plus postage, but I cannot guarantee everything in it is OK, nobody can on a used unit.

a simple wire from the starter relay in the fuse box under the hood to the ground point right next to the fuse box will bypass the BCU ground. Mine was set up like this for months before I finally figured out the XYZ switch was bad. At least it will keep you from being stranded while you are troubleshooting it.

you can also ground out the wire at the bcu. cant remember which one but I did mine, that way it will start no matter what with the key.
