Bad Radiator Cap

Went to flush my radiator tonight, and as I went to remove the radiator cap/plug, the head snapped right off, with very little pressure. I've ordered a new brass plug from EE, but that won't be here for a few days, and I kind of need my Disco this weekend. Of corse the dealerships part dept. isn't open on Saterday. Does anyone know if there's anything that will thread in place of the cap in a fix?

Or any Utah boys have an extra one kicking around I can buy off you?

Thanks,

Ryan

You can get by with a brass pipe plug if used carefully. I forget the size but it is 3/4 or something slightly larger or smaller, readily available at the home center or hardware store. Use some teflon tape on the threads to help it seal.

This is just a temp fix to hold you over, exactly what I did when mine broke and I was waiting for the new plug from EE. The pipe plug is a tapered thread and the radiator is not. So the plug will snug up but not seal completely, that's what the teflon tape helps with. Don't crank on it too tight or you may damage the radiator threads.
