I want to get a backup camera for my F250. I've seen some wireless ones on fleabay that attach where the liscense plate is.

Anyone have a cool setup where it is mounted in their truck? I would like to hardwire it and maybe have it flip down where the sunglass holder is. This is a lariat so I have the power visor console.

Any advice on brands, etc?

I like the rearview mirror with the backup camera in it, just seems to make sense to me. Everyone knows where to look without being told.

my dads SD king ranch has one on the license plate frame. has a double Din nav screen that clicks to it when you hit reverse. it makes it waay easy to hook up to trailers. I only wish there was an easy way to switch to it when driving to make sure you havent lost the chains or something.

Was just looking at some single-DIN Bluetooth head units w/touchscreens and noticed that at least one of them ... a Clarion ... had an icon for a camera input. (In case anyone is reading this five years after the initial thread began! Technological progress!)

I've been running dashcams in my car/truck for a couple of years. I bought a Chinese backup cam and 5" dual input screen for the rover, but have not gotten to the point of installing it yet. I'm working on keeping the truck running :D

This post has me curious.

I could use one of these in my Excursion.
It has those backup beepers but a camera would be nice.
Got to be wireless though; I put a wired one in my Yukon XL years ago and it was a pain in the butt.

A quick ebay search shows some in the $45-60 range---Chinese junk obviously but does anyone have any 1sthand experience?

I have a 7" touch screen fold out head unit on my D2. The plan was to put a reverse camera and a second under the truck cam, but I have yet to buy any of the cameras

Yeah, depending on the brand, they usually sell a backup camera that will plug right into the back of the head unit. Seamless integration. My only experience with this is with Pioneer (several years ago) and at the time they did not offer a wireless version. Hit up Crutchfield and see if that's changed.

Many people in the trailer world complain that the wireless units get confused by many other wireless devices and thus, they recommend wired.

I added one several years ago. Sits above license plate frame. It's wireless and seems to take a few seconds to send signal.
Never could find a good place to mount so it sits down by the cig lighter. Frankly I never use it unless I suspect something may be behind me.
Its also hooked to my DVD player.
Yes it will pick up other wireless signals if in range. One particular restaurant and a local law office I drive by shows me what they are viewing.
