Any of you Virginia guys know of a reliable transport company that i can get a hold of.

I need a Disco transported from Rocky Mount, VA to Saint Louis, MO.

The first "broker" I had a deal with has completely fell through and need to get this moved.

Thanks in advance.

I'd be interested in hearing the quote.....not because I know a better option, just wondering what it costs to do..

Somewhere on the net there's a mailing list to hook up people who have cars they need hauling with truckers who have space. Autohaulers something or other.

Dan,

The quote I got in the initial round all hovered around $500-550. However, many of them couldn't meet my timeline, not like that is an issue now since it has passed.

DO NOT USE ATLAS TRANSPORT

I really was wondering if some of you VA guys knew of local carriers who did the east coast going west transport.

In late 2004, I used them to ship a RRC from Arkansas to VA, and it cost $595 door-to-door. It was much cheaper than me flying out there and driving it back.

It was delivered using one of those big 10-12 car transport carriers.

Well, I would not drive it out there for 500-600. Fuel alone would take half that. Only way to make it worth while is to have a vehicle to bring back home for another 500-600. Even then, you're only do a favor and not making anything - not after hotel room, etc..

That is why the multiple car hauler is really the only option.

They will move 4-5 car going west and drop some off and take others on all while moving relatively one direction. Then pick up out west and do it all over again going east.

That is the site I got Atlas Car Transport from......

They completely suck. Those fools have no idea what they are doing.

If they are related to Atlas Van Lines, I agree.
When we moved to GA from WI Atlas Van Lines allowed about $20,000 worth of our stuff to be stolen. When they finally told us about it, a week later , we were the ones who had to report the theft to the police in Omaha.

I used Phoenix Transport. I shipped my Series from Cincinnati Ohio to St. Louis for $499. Arrived in about a weeks time from when I placed my order to the time I got my truck. $99deposit to the broker, then $400 to the driver at the time of receipt.

Phoenix is the broker and they subbed it a really great company, I can't remember their name. It was something Irish, Mike O'Hara or something like that, they had a shamrock in their logo. The driver was fantastic about communication and arrived on time to the minute. Took really good care, too.

This thread makes me feel better .... I am moving home from the UK soon and it's going to cost me $1700 to ship it from Portsmouth UK to Tacoma Washington...not too bad after all I guess compared to interstate haulage costs.:D

So you all know, ther are many "regular" trucking companies that would be more than happy to move our trucks, and they'd travel inside a trailer. This is especially important if you have a soft top as the constant high speed wind can rip one to shreads. Good to hear it worked out for you.

That's reasonable. I shipped my D1 from Germany to Hawaii and I'm glad the military paid for it, otherwise it wouldn't have happened. The cost quoted was over $2500USD.
