Headed out there in about 10 days. My boss wants to rent some for a day. Anyone got a rec or where to go.

I'd prefer a UTV or sport quad. Not overly concerned about cost.

As for where to go, check out Four Peaks area. Can give directions if needed.

I do most of my wheeling on ATV's lately . My newest machine is a Polaris Sportsman XP . The newer technology on that machine is awesome . Because of the way the power steering controls kick back of your handle bars it takes the abuse and not your shoulders and arms . The system called hill descent control engages the front axle for engine brake at all four wheels . This is very nice because an all wheel drive system will not do that on these quads due to the fact that the front wheels are overrunning until they go slower than the rear. My kid on my old machine cant keep his shit off the back of my machine when I use it .
If I had a chance to rent one I would like to try a CanAm Commander . That side by side looks very nice . You also will want to check the laws about side by side use where your going . Up until recently they needed to be 48 inches wide to ride the trails in Wi . But a full size UTV was over 52 inches .
A lot of my friends swear by Yamaha machines and a lot of rental places have them because they are very dependable . Know where the fuel stations are because you will not get the fuel economy you would think one would get . Riding hard my old carbureted Polaris 500 gets a shitty 18 miles to the gallon and my newer 500 XP gets about 27 .

One other thing . I have seen Polaris Razors that either had some failure of the front drive axle cause it to go over on its nose . I'm sure it had something to do with operator stupidity and a broken overrun sprag . But hard to get that picture out of your head . I bet you can find some of that shit on u tube . So I like the CanAm side by sides .

It's not for everyone, but there's something to be said for being paid to rent a vehicle.

Buy it now from someone in that location, and advertise it for sale an hour later in an auction ending just before you leave. :D

That will give you some play time, and if you play your cards right, a profit as well. You won't even have to move the thing. The seller will drop it off at the trail, and the buyer will pick it up at the trail. Just call both events "test drives", and nobody will notice what's happened.

Your boss will be impressed. Well, if I was your boss I would. :patriot:

Cheers,

Kennith

ideally I'm looking for a place not far from Phoenix that we can park our car, hop on some 450r's or in a rzr at the rental place and ride them to the trail head.

I've had dirt bikes and atv's all of my life and my boss is an experienced rider so we are comfortable renting anything.

It's that or play golf.

Thanks Blue I'll google if there are rental places near there.

There aren't any rental places near there as far as I know. Four Peaks is about 20 miles up the Beeline Highway (highway 87) from Scottsdale (east side of Phoenix). Very easy to get to, stunning scenery, wide open desert with mountain backdrops. It's the best locale that is closest to Phx proper.

I'll be up there on Friday.

They rent Razors and Tomcars in the Sedona area. Not sure about ATVs, but they might. You can explore Schnebly hill, or hit some of the back trails in the area.

Ok. This option has been overruled by everyone.

we are heading out tomorrow. What is something that is a must do? Any ghost towns or ruins. Something not super touristy but fun. We talked about doing one of those Jeep Tours or playing 9 holes or as long as we can stand it in the heat.

Open to suggestions.

We are staying in phoenix proper and only have time from when we land at 9 am until that afternoon.

TIA

Any gun ranges you can rent some machine guns?

Scottsdale Gun Club. And it's indoors.

It's going to be 110F or higher out there. I'd avoid any outdoor hikes in Phoenix.

It's about a two hour drive to Jerome or Sedona, where it will be cooler. Less tourists since you're here on a weekday.

yeah its looking more like an executive course for as many holes as we can stand the heat.

boss man isn't really interested in driving 2 hours to sedona since we are staying in phoenix
