i'm with you there, but electrical components might not be the best place to skimp. get yourself a good alternator or you will be forking out more money later down the road.

At your mom's
I bought an expensive M-M replacement and it shit the bed in just over a year. I rebuilt it (well, just the brushes and volt. regulator), and that lasted just over a year.

Car quest is my next stop.

I tried to save some cash and bought a reman. 3 remans later, I bought a M-M 120amp. If you have lights or anything on your truck its really worth it to get a 120 amp.

I assure you with a reman you will be stuck somewhere.

Auto Zone sells them pretty cheap with a lifetime warranty. However, a lifetime warranty will not do much good when you are on the trail with a dead alternator... I say this because I went the Auto Zone path a few years ago due to short notice, and have already replaced the thing within just a year and half. When it is all said and done, spending a few extra bucks now will save you the frustration of replacing it again in a year or so.

I bought one from British Pacific, 2 ? years ago. Not necessarily inexpensive, but supposedly a good alternator. Nippondenso, I understand that?s what Toyota uses on their cars.

I went through two remans from NAPA(Bosches) and went the new MM120amp route. Should be here next week. NAPA claimed both were good but it still left me stranded at the 7-11 a mile form my house. I'd rebuild or go new

Call Will Tillery for either another Rover alternator or one of the higher amp GMs. Either way it will save you some money!

I just spent 340.00 for one with a lifetime warranty which I will be using with less than 1000 miles on it. My last one was also a NAPA one but I lost the paperwork so I had to buy another one. I got about 12k miles on that one. What does it take to use the GM alt.? What is the part number. Thanks.

I would be VERY interested in to see if this GM alt would work on my 95 disco w/3.9ltr in it..... I dont mind making a bracket or whatever is needed.... would like to hear that someone else has done this already on that motor.... as it seems that my alt only came on the 94-95 model..... High power and easily avail, GM unit... yea... i would buy one!.... :-D

I did it on a 3.9 RR 1990 had to make a braket but worked well.Cant remember the GM number but i think it was for a 1984 chev with a 350.Also never go in the trail without a spare alternator unless you like beeing stranded. You can have a good used Gm for 50$.
