Does anyone know of an aftermarket top radiator plug for the D1?

Mine blew out today and I am having a hard time tracking one down. Even the dealer has the stupid things on backorder.

If anyone knows of where I can get a replacement that would be great. I need to get this thing back on the road.

Except for the fact that the radiator plug is not a pipe thread and will damage the critical seal of the radiator.

The plug is BSPP not NPT.

Used one on my 98 for 3 years w/o issue. However, if I had had the time (was out in the middle of nowhere) to get the correct plug I would have. Once you use a pipe plug you can go back.

I have the 1/2" NPT plug in my 97, it come to me this way when I bought it. It works fine however you have to teflon tape the shit out of it. Id eventually like to replace it with a brass one anyways.

PT does yours have the o-ring seal?

I thought the QT ones were aluminium??? Maybe those are the QT diff plugs, not rad plugs.

They are adonized aluminum, since the D2 diff fill plug is the same as the petrol D1/RRC rad. plug you can use the QT mud plug in the D1 radiator. The 300TDI radiator plug is different however.

The brass plugs are supposed to have either an aluminium or copper sealing ring. I have the copper rings.
