Some of you may remember my question about the accessibility of the fuel rail schrader valve from last week (on a D2).

I had two different opinoins: one saying the valve was not accessible without removing the intake plenum, one saying the valve could be accessed.

I'm here to tell you folks, it can be done without removing the plenum. I had to disconnect a couple thing to get my fat hands in the area, but it worked easy enough.

Sorry for the picture quality. I dropped my camera this summer in Maui, and it hasn't been the same since.

Since I was working with a potentially lethal combination of gasoline and inexperiance, I had backup handy (see pic 2).

Out of curiousity, what fuel pressure gauge did you use? I bought an Actron from Sears but it didn't have the right fitting (despite coming with two).

Shawn -
I used a $10 bicycle pump that I bought from Ace Hardware. It was a "foot pump" type and had a nice big gauge and a flexible hose which made accessing the valve easy (thanks to others for this recommendation).

Thats awesome that you can get it without taking the intake off. All the ones I've done, I had the plenium off for some reason or another. And, with these twinkes I have on the end of my hands, it's a tight fit for sure. :)
