Hey- I've posted my Disco on Ebay-- which absolutely breaks my heart. January 9th I'm headed to Singapore then onwards to Australia to travel for a bit and I'm already storing my D100, SeriesIII and a Triumph Spitfire- don't know if I want to store the DI as well. Below is the description from Ebay- Reserve is set at $4000.

------------------------------------------------------
This Discovery has been my baby for 6 years- I'm the 2nd owner. It has 182K on the odometer but a new engine was installed just over 75K miles ago and it drives wonderfully with no issues. It has been fed only premium unleaded gasoline, had its oil changed (all synthetic) regularly and all servicing done as necessary (brake pads, trans oil changed, diffs serviced, etc). It starts strong, pulls strong and has never left me stranded.

The add-ons:

Mantec snorkel (www.mantec.co.uk) for deep water wading and/or easier breathing in dusty conditions. This snorkel was imported from Scotland and follows the line of the vehicle beautifully, much better than the Safari snorkels in my opinion. Mantec supplied the same snorkels to the Camel Trophy vehicles.

Safety Devices (SD) (www.safetydevices.com) roof rack which follows the contours of the vehicle's roof and allows for storage and/or the mounting of a rooftop tent. This is a genuine SD rack for a D1. I've added heavy duty "chicken" flooring to the rack which adds to the usability.

Hella lamps- three on the front and one on the back of the rack, with a mounting location for a fourth on the front (my fourth one was damaged and removed). The rearward facing light has not been wired to the cabin, though it is functional. The front 3 are wired to a stock switch (original fog light switch) in the cabin but could be wired to operate independently of each other if desired.

Old Man Emu (OME) (www.expeditionexchange.com/ome/indexsprings.htm) HD springs- these add 2" to the unladen ride height and, more importantly, a good deal more support when journeying off road carrying any sort of heavy load (i.e. a fully-loaded rack).

A Mean Green Reduction Starter (www.mean-green.com)- slick and aftermarket, this starter provides 100% more torque on starting than stock and sounds better, as well. No problems whatsoever starting in cold weather.

Optima Red Top Battery (www.expeditionexchange.com/optima)- able to be mounted sideways or upside down, mine is right side up and provides more start up power.

New black headliner- professionally done- stronger and nicer looking than stock and no worries about the roof tangling in your hair!

CB Radio mounted and installed in the cabin; PA system (bullhorn) mounted under the hood and connected to the CB. Great for communicating on the trails.

Keyless pushbutton ignition switch installed and pictured. Flip the switch, push the button and it fires up. This replaced the ignition key set up which was prone to failure on LRs.

Both moonroofs work perfectly and are still able to open with the rack on, which is quite nice.

Stock LR radio and 6-disc CD changer work perfect.

The outside is Oxford Blue and the inside tan leather (save for the roof and center console, which is black). The center differential lock (CDL) works perfectly as it should and shifts in and out of high and low range with aplomb. I towed a UHaul trailer with a sports car on top last week (with the diff locked) and was pleased at how well the Disco tows, as well.

Things that need work and/or do not work as they should:

front windshield has a crack running from the bottom right across and halfway up the left. It will need to be replaced at some point. It does not affect visibility but you'll have to budget for a new windshield prior to inspection (I believe). Safelite offered a quote of $237 for performing a new windshield replacement (including glass) which seems reasonable, or you could located a windshield from one of the numerous junkyards and install it yourself.

There are a few dings in the body- nothing major- which it has picked up on trail and on the supermarket parking lot. I've tried to get some pics of these.

Originally I had a bull bar mounted on the front which rubbed a bit on the right front panel. This is pictured. (incidentally, the bull bar is included if you'd like- it's rusted on the bottom but could be fixed if you can weld).

Keyless remote does not work. I have it, but a part needs to be soldered for it to function. It is still linked with the car, however, and should work fine.

Rear bumper has been crushed at one point- has not affected the frame or body (backed into a non-moving pole) but it has been dented.

Seats need covers or to be replaced. Seat heaters work great (as does the heat- blows strong and hot) but there is a hole in the drivers side seat and both have a fair amount of cracking present. Secondhand seats are plentiful and affordable- I was planning on installing a set of four-harness seats so did not get around to replacing them.

Center console needs to be cleaned up. The rubber mat under the shifter is missing.

There is a small chunk taken out of the rear passenger door handle- again, could be replaced cheaply if desired, but not horrible.

Rear carpet needs to be cleaned.

Rear cargo cover functions fine but has a bend in it.

Rear dampers need new bushes- I would suggest replacing all bushes with polybushes, but that's up to you. Right now there's a bit of clanking from the shock lower mount hitting the chassis mount- not terrible, but there.

All in all a great SUV that I am very reluctant to part with- I'm headed overseas and do not have storage space for it (mainly because of a '78 LR SIII and 100"WB Defender, both in pieces, occupying most of the room). NOTE: Right now it has the white steelies with better tires installed; the spare is the original LR deep dish alloy wheel. If you'd prefer the alloys to the steelies that's not a problem- I still have them. Spare on the rear is representative of the LR stock alloys.

I am not looking to part it out (that includes the rack) at this point.

Please let me know if you have any questions and thanks for your interest.

The white rims actually look nice on it in person.

Thanks Chad...saw your truck last week outside REI in Brentwood.

I'm partial to the white steelies, mainly because they came over from Jolly Olde with my Series. Regardless, buyer gets choice of those or the original deep dish LR alloys.

The truck is located in Ballwin- suburb of St. Louis.

Here's a link to the Ebay page where there are much bigger pics- I can't get bigger pics to load on DWeb: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...STRK:MESE:IT&viewitem=&item=280183647676&rd=1

You can also see the pics on Photobucket- username is "cdmbrennan" and password is "disco". There are other pics in the same album which do not apply to the D1 for sale (other LR items I'm looking to get rid of, so shoot me an email if you're interested in any of them...)

Not interested in parting it yet- but out of curiosity, what is the market value for a SD rack right now?

Thanks for the interest and sorry for the delay in answering questions. Email me at cdmbrennan@yahoo.com with specific questions.

Fastforward to around August when I might have some money and I'd be more than interested in driving from Florida to pick it up.
