where i'm at right now, duh...
A local friend sent me this message on our forum today. Can any of you series guys help us out?

Hey, can you ask your rover buddy's what carb was on the '57 rover? It's a four cylinder gas engine, and the one we have is broken, plus it's the wrong one. Also, can you ask them if they know where I can get one? Thank you.

thanks!

Probably was a Solex that early, Zenith later on, but I'd just put a Weber or maybe a Rochester on there instead, no reason to hunt down a Solex specifically....

Oh Matty! It's so hawt to hear you talking Series talk! ;) Come on over to the dark side, you know you want to.

Check here also for some more specific Rochester info on jetting, etc. I have the Weber 34ihc but I'm wanting to switch to the Rochester from all the great things I hear about them. Especially with how sensitive my Weber is to dirty fuel issues. My vote is ROCHESTER baby!

I WISH! Its a friend here in town... I actually sent him a link to this thread and now he's a member on here. Hopefully he will let me come SEE it for myself. ;)

To all that have helped, Thanks. It is supposed to have a solex carb on it, but most places that sell them require a core (no option to pay a core charge). The Rover belongs to the owner of my work and he is attempting to "restore" it (Well, actually the bodyshop and myself are). I think I will recommend we put a weber or something else on it though. The carb that came with it is a Zenith, but I understand that's a carb that came on newer one's. I will take some pic's of the rover and maybe start a build thread here, I will need lot's of help, it's completely tore apart and it's up to me to get it back together (and I was not the one who took it apart). Thanks again.

Call Ike Goss at pangolin4x4.com. He will be able to locate a Solex for you.

Much better carb than the Rochester and Weber. I have a weber and their quality is terrible, as is the acceleration. There are a few places that can rebuild it for you. Teflon bushes, a throat bore, and a new butterfly and they are a great carb.
