3.5 Amigos? In the rain.

I've read lots on the 3 Amigos, but haven't seen anything about my particular situation.

Generally, I've been Amigo free for the past ~2 years. I had a couple times I think in a parking lot, turning while rolling slowly and apply the brakes lightly, the ABS came on for no reason, then all the lights. I just turn off the truck, turn it on, lights are gone, everything is normal for months and months. I'm not worried about this, just seems a freak thing.

But just yesterday, I got the ABS, TC and the (!) light on but NOT the HDC. It was raining out, and I didn't touch the brakes. I pulled over, shut it off, started up, lights are gone, start driving, and without touching the brakes, it happens again. I parked at home, and got in later that evening to go somewhere. I start it up, and ONLY the ABS light is on.

This morning, the ABS light is still on, but soon as I started moving, it went off. Drove all the way to work, no problem.

Then at noon, I got ABS, TC, and (!) on, but still no HDC. It's drizzing now, was dry this morning. I thought it weird that the HDC light wasn't on, but (!) was on, which I don't hear about much.

So, I put it in low range just to see, and soon as I did, the HDC light came on. Put it back in high range, and the HDC stayed lit. Shut the truck down, started it up, all lights off again.

It's weird to get this intermittent "soft" fault, that can clear everytime I restart? And I think I remember this exact thing happening a year ago, again when it was raining. But strangely, doesn't happen when I do a deep water fording.

I'm going to check the grounds, cause my intuition tells me that's it, since it's related to being wet it seems. Just wondering if anybody else has any ideas. I might also check the wheel speed connectors, put a bit of dielectric on them. Want to get some basics out of the way before spending $200 on the ABS Amigo.

I have the same problem when it is cold and wet out. If my brakes squeak it gives me trouble. The errors clear when I shut the truck off and back on, the abs light will be on for a while until it resets it's self. (03 Disco)

Some times my brakes won't work, press the petal, and it go's to the floor, and there are some pulses from the modulator. All 4 brake lights go on, and it chimes. Press the brake petal again, and they work. I think the abs modulator has been disabled at that time. This happens one or 2 times a year.

I have not found the problem yet, but if triggered by rain, may be the wheel speed sensor wires are getting wet, cracked insulation??? Squeaking pads will trigger a fault. May be water on the rotors affects the sensors, by changing the frequency of the squeak? Reading the codes would help.

Look at table on page 23.

I may have to buy the ABS amigo soon. I would assume it is a bad connector or bad wire.

Good luck
