Just picked up a Marlin 925R the other day, $206 out the door including tax and fees, it's a bolt action which I dig and so far a very good little plinker. No scope on it yet, but the sights are very accurate so I'm up in the air wether I will even put one on. It has a synthetic stock, my next plinker will probably be one of their 917VST with the smoked and laminated stock and the 17 Hornady Mag. Rimfire round, but the cost and availability of the .22LR round make it hard not to own one, 500rds of .22LR are $10-12, can't go wrong with that for knocking cans off logs.

Here's one I just finished building for a friend. It's a .22 with a 3 on the end ;)

All joking aside you can't go wrong with a 10/22

I have one of those CZ bolt action swith the American style stock.
I bought my 8 year old a CZ Scout for christmas a few years ago. A really nice 22. I'd looked at other small ones and they were pretty junky. I made him use it single shot for about 6 months, then got him a couple of 10 rnd magazines. I haven't put a scope on it yet.

been researching. the 10/22 is definately something i would end up putting money into to make it customized. buffer, larger mag release and an upgraded trigger will be the first things to come.as far as accuracy, is a bolt action THAT much more accurate? i know its just for plinking, but impressing your friends with an accurate rifle is always a plus...

Even more impressive than having an accurate rifle is shooting a rifle accurately.

:victory:

and as such, i plan to learn to shoot it accurately.

i somehow managed to clear 76 rounds this afternoon through an older savage in no time at all. ripped that target a new one!

A semi may become illegal in the near future, so thats another reason to get one. Why limit yourself to one? Go to a pawn shop and get a semi, a bolt, maybe even a sweet golden boy lever.

My favorite is an old Rem 511 bolt action. It's by far the most accurate rifle I have ever fired, even more so than my .308 Savage. I just got an old Nylon 66 and a JC Higgins 103. Figured I would teach the kid. Not a fan of the tube feed though.

I've been looking for a nice 10/22 heavy barrel......???

Where did you guys get the silencers? I've been trying to reduce the varmint population here and these Agullia powderless just don't have the range. Neighbors get pissed though.....

Sadly, my favorite .22 was sold in my dad's auction a coupla years ago, Weatherby Mark XXII. Beautiful shooting rifle. The Anschutz was sold at the same auction, the sights brought almost three times what the rifle sold for.

30 years ago +, the old man walked into Montgomery Wards and saw a left-handed Browning T-bolt with no rear sight... He asked where the sight was and was told it had been thrown away with the box... He bought the rifle for $35! It was my 12th birthday gift and now has some much better glass on it and has been responsible for reducing the population of raccoons, chipmunks and rabbits for years. One of the most accurate .22s I've ever owned or shot (but not the equal of the Anschutz though :D).

I've shot many 10/22s, some full-auto. While I like them for what they are, I don't know that I'd ever own one.
