OK, so funny story. My 2003 D2 slipped a liner and I decided to replace the POS with an Atlantic-British rebuilt short block. 600 miles later, a tree fell on the truck.

Long story short, I've got a 2004 D2 that I'm swapping my nearly-new engine into. The factory engine from the 2004 was pulled, running from the truck at 96,500 miles. It had some tapping (not the diesel-sounding slipped liner noise, more like a lifter), but ran nominally between 188* and 201* according to Ultragauge, with no coolant loss. Oil looked clean, too, 2000 miles after oil change. I'd say it's a great candidate for a rebuild. Don't ask me what the compression was, I don't know.

Asking $1000, you pick it up in Portland, Oregon.
