Those people aren’t like you and me.It has always amazed me that someone would pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for a shotgun.
Really nice Rangie. I’d probably drive it. Limited mileage yet on nice days. My ‘94 LWB just turned 130k and about 10k of those are when we had in Switzerland. This truck is beautiful. Someone buy it and store it.
Fewer miles on the OD for sure and it is a tough comparison. This engine was replaced before 117k with a 44k engine, so really engine miles are comparable. Unfortunately the only proof I have is a perfectly clean, undetailed engine bay. On the wood, for a really good wood worker, easy fix.The truck that just sold on BaT was in comparable shape. It was not missing wood though and had fewer miles. I have sold classic SUVs on BaT and Doug's site. Mileage and aesthetics matter more than anything else in my experience. It is also an exponential drop off with large cliffs at 100K, 120K and so on. It works the same under 100K but in reverse.
All that said, I used to horde P38s and I'd say your asking price is right on target given the rarity and condition of the truck. If you put some effort into the presentation, BaT may accept it as a no reserve listing and you'll probably end up close to your asking price. They can very picky, but they like rare vehicles and honest descriptions.
What just happened here? I was going to send this link to a guy who might have wanted it.
LP Range Rovers don’t have a lot of fans. I think the technology scares people away. Under rated in my opinion. Special edition trucks will always be desirable and I think your price is good. I’m not in the market for a truck right now, but if I was I would be all over this thing. I was going to tell a friend who worked for Rover for a long time. Now he’s got a real job so maybe he’s in the market. There’s a couple people I was going to tell about it.What happened is that not a single interested buyer was generated from DiscoWebt, so I pulled all the pictures and information. If I knew how to delete the entire thread, I would.
I still have it and no pending offers. clear title. Have him contact me directly, my mobile number is still above. If he texts me his name and email I will send all of the information to him directly.
This P38 is FAR more reliable than all 3 D1 and all 3 RRC that I have owned.LP Range Rovers don’t have a lot of fans. I think the technology scares people away. Under rated in my opinion. Don’t give up, someone is going to want that truck.

The P38 Range Rover started out being hated by all the purists. I think it’s like what the purists are going thru now with the new Defender. They stop making the old standard and offer up something different. This is an intriguing statement.
I remember a post here stating a 98 D1 is arguably one of the most reliable Land Rovers ever made.
Is p38 hate more anecdotal than real?
I think the older GEMS P38 might be as dependable as a ‘98 Discovery.
