If you talk to him before Saturday, let me know what he says about the rack feet and clamps. I'll bring my band saw out there and chop it up for him. He can keep the rest of the junk for scrap. I'll PM you my cell.
That's cool. But if the rack is junk it would be nice to have the feet. Just in case I get a wild hair up my ass to bend up a rack.
Is it wild hair or wild hare? I've always wondered. In many ways wild hare makes more sense, but everyone I ask thinks its hair.

That thing is hammered. Those guys aren't fooling anyone with $2,500. I've called that place before with parts requests and just given up, the amount they charge for salvaged parts is just as unrealistic as their price for that mangled truck. As Luke Skywalker said in Episode IV, "What a piece of junk!"
Every yard that I've found with Land Rovers inside the fence are over-priced. They pull the prices from some magic list........ unless it isn't an inventory type part (got the roof rack cross bars and a pan-hard "project" for $25)
They wanted ~$110 for an a/c compressor, and my local gets $21.99 regardless of make/model (getting the two Yorks out of their '82 Volvos for an attempt at OBA)
Some yards are better than others. Pick-and-Pull in Tacoma is good, and most self service yards are that way. Just sharing an observation..............

I seem to get good deals there. I guess in person, with ca$h in hand is more of a motivation for these guys than "Some guy" on the phone.
Better to pull then negotiate a price if you ask me. The worst case is you pull it, bring cash, ask if they'll take x amount of money. If they sy no, just set the part on the ground and walk.

I haven't been to a swap meet yet (I've had my rig for a whopping three weeks), there is a PCRC rally in Chehalis on saturday, was thinking about heading down, but they seem to be mostly Series, RRC, and Defender folks (still might be interesting to meet some of them). I wish I was closer to that rig up there, I'd like a pair of those lights and the ladder off the back if you get to feeling like helping a stranger.

Just got off the phone with Chuck at NW Auto Recyclers,
The D1 is still for sale and I guess they've had pretty good response for it on CL but no buyers yet. So they are going to give it one more week before parting it out. Boo......
Oh well I hope if it does sell it goes to a good home. The vehicle is in bad shape but is not totally fucked. It would be a good one to restore.
