Ok all.

1stly sorry for entering this in the wrong place. Tired and P*$$^d off.

Parked the d-1 about a week / 2 weeks ago. Vehicle is on an angle facing downhill. In the past said veh' will, when gas is low require a motivational tap / smack with a hammer or similar motivator to the fuel filter, Voila! jumps to life again.

Not so this time. Would not fire up. changed the cap, rotor arm, coil, filter of course and finally a new battery was placed in. NOTHING.
Q? Does the fuel line need to be repressurised>
Q? Any ideas, turning over, getting fuel, getting a spark at the plugs.

Cheers, in advance for any input and or curious entertaining comments.

You need to get a fuel pressure reading. The fact that you had to bang on the filter doesn't make sense. If you bang on the tank it will "jar" a weak or stuck pump and make it fire up. The fuel filter should re-prime by cycling the key a few times.

Ok!

Tried smacking the snot out of the fuel pump to no avail. It is making the usual sounds of pumping gas. Unable to locate a gas rail pressure tester will try again tomorrow. I have noticed that there is an unusual sound comingfrom the exhaust when I turn the vehicle over, A kind of polp then nothing then plop sound. Not very loud, but but not a sound that I can relate to hearing with the vehicle running normally.

Any further suggestions are still appreciated.

A follow up question.

I got the misses to start the disco while I was looking under the hood.

I observed as the engine was cranking over that the Rotor cap was wobbling all over the place. This was a replacement cap from Land Rover. Trying to fit the cap was difficult, it didn't want to bed down onto the rails correctly. How tight is the seal meant to be between the cap and the distributor body? The previous cap looked like it was glued on with a sealant. The old cap and the new replacement look (and should be ) identical. Any suggestions? Could this be the root of my problem? Rotor arm is secure and not loose in the distributor and coil appears to be working - lots of sparks coming from the coil area in the cap.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Cheers for all the help.

The beast from the East is now on the road again.

The dizzy was rebuilt @ New Orleans LR ( great guys) the said dizzy was reinstalled in OB MO and the Beast is again alive.

Again thanks for the help, I put in a new starter the old was weak. It apparently had loose connectors. If anyone wants it. I can't promise it is OK but it used to start the beast 7-10 times but anyway it's FREE. just the cost of shipping.

Cheers
