Once you did the traditional method, using the pin on the crankshaft wheel and the pump pulley, and you got things working, is there a simple method to advance (or retard) your timing to have it exactly where you want it (less smoke, smoother run) ?
Lots of stuff on this on D90. There are a few methods. If you just want to advance the timing you can use a smaller diameter pin when your locking the injection pump. Loosen the three bolts on the outer ring and turn the center nut clockwise until your smaller pin is tight. The other methods are to start playing with the pump.
