Mine rubs there a bit. I used the stock mud flap plate and bent it up around the filler hose and secured it on the back side so it's like a little armor plate. It works and doesn't damage the filler. What did you fill the doors with?
after you changed the switch did the symptoms remain exactly the same or did they change at all? Was your switch known to be good before install?
By the way. I'm in loomis. Not too far away. There are a few of us from the local club getting together next week if you would like to join.
Along with the u-joints check the loading on your wheel bearings. I had similar noise and once the wheel bearings were re-torqued everything went away. Another time the tire shop forgot to tighten my lugs on one wheel all the way and it started rumbeling like a bastard about 30 miles down the...
So it turns out that the the serpentine belt was misrouted. This has been corrected and everything has been working fine since. What a dummy... the trip was a good one and the tach worked the entire time untill about 20 miles from home. We were in the snow the whole time and the rover kept...
Did nothing, been working fine for the last 4 days. Now that I said someting it will probably crap out. Going out on a light wheeling trip this weekend so I'll let you all know how things go.
I checked and cleaned the negative battery cable at both the batery and where it connects to the frame. I wire brushed the stink out of both ends even though they looked good. There is a connection to the engine side of the wheel well panel where the negative battery cable is attached. At...
It has been storming here in nor cal for the past few days and my garage is too short to let the rover in. It's dry'er this morning so I will go and take a look at the positive cable on the starter today.
The reason I was testing resistance between the disconnected positive a and negative...
13.5 Volts was across the old battery while running with the alt connected. The truck runs fine with the battery disconnected. Could this still mean that the rebuilt alt is a bad one? Today the tach did not work on my way home from the ladys house but it worked perfectly on the way to the...
Battery replaced, negative cable cleaned on both ends, problem remains:banghead:
I haven't driven it enough to see if the battery will drain all the way down, but the tach is still not working. It did work when initally started, but quickly stopped working.
The tach on my 96 D1, 5 speed, was acting all crazy so I did a search and found that most of the time this means that the alt is going. I purchased a rebuilt alt that was bech tested satisfactory. After installation I had the same problem. Usually the tach would not work for the first 5 miles...
Many of you have expiernced the power steering hoses leaking. Mine went last year and I replaced them without thinking twice. Please warn other that leaking fluid could be potientially catostophic. One of my professors investigates car fires. He said that he has been to the sceen of a couple...
It was time to replace the lubracating agent in my balls recently... er, swivel balls that is. I did a search and found reasons to use oil and different reasons to use grease. I decided that I wanted to switch to oil. I flushed the existitng grease and replaced with oil and the next day there...
There is a rover slavage yard close to here that wants $125 for a used mirror. Is it worth it to get a mirror from them just to have it break again or should I be thinking about changing to soemthing more reliable?
There is a speaker amp with a fuse under the passenger kick plate. There is also a relay that should shut when you turn the radio on. If you listen close you can hear it "clicking" but it's hard to distinguish from all the other sounds of the truck comming to life. If you have a multimeter...
My 96 also has a v shaped crack on the rear window rubber. It doesn't leak so I leave it alone. "If it aint broke, don't fix it" I always say. But if you're in the Navy then it's "Fix it untill it's broke."
I have a 40 series Flowmaster on mine. Local shop did it from the cats back about a year ago. I elected not to replace the resanator and the truck runs and sounds great. No more bouncing that resanator off rocks either.
