    Running Boards / Side Steps

Appreciate the feedback Drillbit. I decided to go ahead and pick up a pair from DAP, the BA100's. Since it's the daily driver for the wife, no offroading any time soon. I hope those will do the trick. BTW, I graduated from Franklin (Dad still lives there).

    Running Boards / Side Steps

Hi All, The mrs is having a hard time getting into the rover so i'm looking for a set of running board that'll fit my 99 Discovery II. I'd like to have the necessary hardware included for bolting it on. If not, not a huge deal. I live in Raleigh, NC so anything within driving distance would...

    Head Gasket and DIY

X2 I wish my Audi shop manual was as good as RAVE. I had some buddies help with tightening the head bolts. I didn't feel like purchasing 6 point sockets. As mentioned above, labeling and ziplocks are your best friend. Oh, and double check the torque settings. Drilling out broken bolts isn't...

Should I rebuild my front Drive Shaft?

I'm half way thru the rebuild myself. The wife had been driving it and didn't tell me about the vibration. Went underneath for a look and sure enough, one of the U-joints look like it had spit up some bearings. I like to cus at other things besides my boss so I decided to do the work myself...

99 Disco 2 Rocker Arm Replacement

I wanted to provide a follow-up to what I've done over the last couple of days. One side note about my ticking noise, sometimes at idle i'd get a flashing oil light but not all the time. Another thing I thought about was, the last time I changed the oil, I used 5w30. After reading many posts...

    timing cover woes

I used both the gasket and rtv when I put mine back together. I agree, the paper was pretty weak but the last thing I wanted was oil leaking out from the cover and having to tear back into that thing. Just my .02 cents.

99 Disco 2 Rocker Arm Replacement

Seafoam sounds like a good route to take to rule out the exhaust leaks. I did look at the lifters when I replaced the head gaskets and they all "appeared" fine. It's almost like my rover waits until after I fix one thing for another to break! :banghead: I'm starting to learn, when in doubt...

99 Disco 2 Rocker Arm Replacement

So my previous problem was corrected with new rocker arms but over the last 2 weeks, I started getting this strange problem with the infamous "ticking" from the passenger side of the truck. The problem only occurs if the engine is at a higher RPM for an extended time. My total drive time to work...

99 Disco 2 Rocker Arm Replacement

Sorry guys, I forgot to mention that the picture provided wasn't mine.:) I was just using it as a reference for identification of what I thought was the correct rocker shaft assembly (left/right rocker per cylinder). That indeed was one dirty ass motor! After I pulled the other rocker shaft...

99 Disco 2 Rocker Arm Replacement

Hi All, I'm running into some concern and thought I'd post a question on here. I'm in the process or replacing my rocker arms and shafts and everything seemed to be going smoothly until I started re-assembly. I'm concerned with the order of left and right rocker arms compared to what I saw...

    Shocks and Springs final decisions

Ditto on RTE. I just installed their springs and OME shocks after their recommendation. Steve truly is a great guy to work with. Very helpful. I wanted to update my springs and shocks due to sag and the shocks being completely wasted (92k on original shocks and springs). After installation I saw...

99 Disco 2 Factory Brush Guard Install Guide

If I don't get a response with the guide, I can always wing it. I got the guard used and it didn't come with any brackets. I'm hoping I don't need any as I was told I wouldn't. We'll see I guess. Thanks for the info.... Woody
