Within the last week, I started to hear a loud noise when driving, low or medium speed. The sound which is a lower pitched squeal happens intermitently.
Applying the brake does not affect the noise. I also notice at low speed the ABS kicks on when slowing down for no apparent reason and the...
Sounds like 1 1/2 or 13/4 will do the trick. Since you have taken the Harbor Freight option away, I guess I will check into renting one. Any other advice? I saw the orange truck at our Robesonia event and it is nice...my ride is rough and I'm not too concerned with running it through trails, etc.
The Fix:
Sprayed all external components with PB Blaster. Removed shifter knob and boot, sprayed internals with PB Blaster. Let it sit for a while. Worked lever back and forth from the passenger side until it finally loosened. Diff Lock disengaged.
I am not getting any lateral movement in the CDL (between lock and normal). I can hit neutral, but it won't move to the right. I took off the shifter know and didn't see any gunk jamming it up. Do I need to attack it from the top or is there a way to get at it from the side? :(
Tried it. Seems to shift OK, indicator won't go off...and I can tell it isn't disengaged. I'll try again.
Sorry about the double post, browser hung on the first one...
99 D1 - Was able to engage OK, not seems to be stuck. Lever moves, doesn't feel like it goes the whole way to the right. I can get High and Low. How do I get it to disengage?
Thanks Gordo,
Checked the inertia switch, wasn't popped, but reset it anyway. There are two relays under the seat, one with the blue base, swapped them, but no change. Checked the fuse - ok. Have the cover off and I am hoping it's not the pump...its pretty rusty and I will end up cracking...
I am used to hearing a whir when I hit the key on my Disco, I am not hearing the whir on the RR. Found some info on the rangerovers.net and will start with the wires. Anything else to look for before I pull the whole pump?
I am running a 225/75 x 16 Road Venture AT on my 91 RRC. Tire hasn't left me stuck yet but it is a more all season style tread and I haven't been in a really muddy place. I have around 15K on them and they seem to be wearing well. They could have a stiffer sidewall.
I have never welded. Are the 110 Migs easy to use? Is the weld sufficient for floor boards and other light metal? For $20 and some supplies, I might give it a shot. What guage sheet metal did you use for the floor and sills?
I saw a post from a local Rover club about a homemade Waxoyl product. The gist of the thread is that wax is melted in a solvent and as the solvent evaporates, it leaves the wax behind as a sealant. Has anyone tried doing this?
