Thanks for the reply. I went ahead and purchased it and in typical Land Rover fashion I had it less than 24 hours and started getting the no-start issue. The dealer I bought it from diagnosed it as the started and will be replacing it with a new one.
I've read up on that issue so I'm going to...
Hey folks,
I've had a few older Disco's, Range Rover Classics and still got my Series 2A (gotta keep it for the fun factor). I'm looking at an 06' LR3 with the V6 (SE) and have drivin' it and it still seems to have a fair bit of power. I'm not looking to tow anything heavy with it or race...
You are correct the sales lot will not give me the owners info as I would have guessed. We will see if anything comes of it after they have contaced the owner and told him all the issues. He may or may not realize that there is a potential for a serious and costly repair. If it doesn't lower the...
Thanks folks. I would love to talk to the owner but I don't know who he is as he left the vehicle on the lot as consignment. He is supposedly in Arizona at the moment. I'm in Canada.
I agree $7000 cdn is still too high. I think he is willing to come down quite a bit yet.
I have an 03' E46 black on black 5 speed. It gets excellent fuel economy and it's a blast to drive. If you can pick one up in good shape at a decent price I would say go for it. They are just as easy to work on as Land Rovers are (heh!).
Hi folks, it's been a while since I posted on here.
I have owned a Series 1 Disco and 93 RRC and I still have a Series 2A but I miss my Disco and recently came across a 2002 Disco 2 which has the CDL etc....it is on consingment at a dealership for a gentleman who supposedly lives between...
Got her on. Thanks guys for the tips. I used Hylomar, thin coating on one side to hold the gasket in place. The PS bracket I just took off (pretty easy) so I could clean the face properly and put the gasket on. Pretty easy switch just takes some time.
I just had mine rebuilt. Was about $100 Canadian.
I had one rebuilt for my old Disco as well many years back and never had a problem.
That said though I looked into doing the GM mod as well. I beleive there are GM Delco Alternators that have a simular output and clock position to bolt right...
Hi folks, I'm going to install a new water pump this weekend on the 93' RRC Lwb. I have a new gasket and a tube of hylomar. Do I use them both or just the gasket or just the hylomar.
Anybody have recommendations? On my old Disco a few years back I believe I just used the gasket.
Thom
Could anybody tell me if the starter relay on a 93' RRC is in the same place as on the 95' RRC?
The "rave" (only tech book I have right now) only shows 95' classics even though the pic on the cover (electronic cover) shows a much older classic. The ravey shows the relay on the passenger side...
The battery is a "Sure Start" not a very good one but is brand new from the previous owner......my first thought was battery either bad cell or because the battery is only 450cca......but again it was starting fine even in -50 deg weather.
Also the battery was fully charged and it still...
I left the lights on on my 93' RRC Lwb 4.2l one day last weekend and ran the battery dead.
After I charged it up it would not start......no clicks just dash lights and no other sounds. I didn't have any problems before hand.
It was quite cold but never had a problem with it before.
I had the...
Just a quick update.
1. Found out mine are 24 spline.
2. Want to thank Paul for very good and prompt service regarding info, invoicing and sending out a 24 spline rear diff for me. Thanks Paul.
Cheers,
Thom
Thanks guys,
Evidently the pinion and ring gears are shot. Casing is fine. The guy admitted to me the other day that he knows nothing about these vehicles or where to source parts etc....I told him not to worry as I know most of the sources. (I practically rebuilt....er..restored my 96' Disco...
I spoke too soon. It seems the diff isn't salvageable. I can't find a used or new range rover diff in my area but I could get an ARB locker type . Couple questions:
1. can I use the air spring compressor for the arb (I've converted to coils anyways)
2. any opinions on ARB?
3. anyone got a...
Thanks for the replies. The mechanic called this afternoon and he says the pinion bearing is toast. He looked at the gears and claims that they are ok.
There was no metal chunks but the pinion seal had blown (?) and there was only a small cup of oil in the housing.
Normally I would undertake...
Hi guys,
I was driving about on the highway yesterday and without warning I just seemed to loose power (not all just a little loss) and then a horrible squeak/ growl started from under the RRC (1993 LWB).
I pulled over right away and noticed steam (we have snow) coming from what I thought was...
