My guess is grease coming from the hub unit.

Never had any oil pressure issues. To my knowledge only 2003 had the front cover issue. Only issue I have had with this truck was a premature fuel pump failure at 45k miles. LR dealership covered and replaced the pump under the state/federal emissions warranty. No issues since and no ABS...

IIRC the handset needs to be re-synced after the fob battery has been replaced. On a '00 RR it should re-sync by inserting the key in the ignition in order for the BeCM to pickup the signal... Has this already been tried?
