My '87 won't start or even sputter. I looked under the hood and the vacuum advance unit was hanging by the hose. Does the arm on the unit keep the internal plate from recoiling enough that it would cause me to have a spark too far off to start the vehicle?
Thank you,
Daniel
I'm working on getting all the seat adjustment motors on my most recent acquisition, a 1987 RR. I found a black one inch square box under the driver's seat with a black button on top that can be pulled out to expose a red post. It looks like a circuit breaker that wold pop up and can be pushed...
My temp gauge in 4.0 '96 Disco jumps and falls on the same place on my drive to work. It's on the freeway after a 1/2 mile stretch of a slight incline. The temp goes up a bit to about 3/4 then back down. If I throw the heater on it drops faster, but what the hell is going on? No water in the oil...
After a hard start this morning in my '96 Disco I smelled gas. It seems to be wet and smelling of gas right at the regulator and the rail. I didn't replace it after taking it off a few months ago, BUT no one sells that part. Can I go buy some standard O ring to fix this? Do I also need a spacer...
Just started taking the top off the 4.0 in my '96 Disco. Is there a good step-by-step post...maybe with pictures that can save me from doing extra work? Thank you all!
So, one of my oil cooling lines on my '96 DI started pissing a few days ago so I replaced both lines. When I took off the ends at the radiator the oil was brown and old looking. The rest of the oil in the engine is clear and free from anything that looks like that. No regular looking clean oil...
OK, another question here. My power steering goes away once the vehicle is warmed up. When it's cold it works really well and only leaks a tiny bit. It has been like this for years...no better, no worse. Any ideas?
Thank you,
Daniel
Anyone come up with an alternate part or fix for the rear step that sags?
Something that works in place of the gas actuator, NOT a bungee cord or anything like that.
Thank you,
Daniel
While researching my vibration problem I noticed people needing the bushing only for the rear prop shaft. Well, Gold Coast Rovers in San Luis Obispo ( http://www.goldcoastrovers.com/ ) sells a bag with the busing and 3 nuts/bolts for the rear coupling. It was like $10.80. They also had a great...
HELP!
I had a shutter, more like a vibration, crop up the other day, it went away and now it's back, but worse. It increases with the speed of the vehicle, not the revs and it almost goes away when there is nearly no load on the drive-train...like on flat or mildly falling roadway. If there is...
I'm not starting a green/orange mixing thing here, but my local dealer sold me the orange XLC stuff for my '96 Disco and told me that was the stuff I needed. I've never had to think about it until my expansion tank went. I still have some green in there so I'm not putting the orange in. Are...
Calico is the best! So many trails and various obstacles and yes, a Disco will fit through Kramer Arch, but don't slide or you may end up taking part of your vehicle off. If you have not done Calico you must add it to your list.
Made the trip to Calico for some really great off-roading this weekend and all was well until about 80 miles from home climbing up from Palmdale on the 14 back to Ventura when I smelled coolant. The temp gauge was to the top so I pulled off and found coolant coming from the bottom on the...
OK, once the '96 4.0 is warmed up, just sometimes, there's a ticking sound coming from under the thing. It's not the same as the exhaust leak because it's sharper and about twice the frequency (twice the revs I guess). It can be heard standing bedside the car, but not from the top of the...
Hello,
My 1996 Disco is parked on the grass because that's where I was washing it. I have a leak in the front sunroof and water did get in and I see that water did run down the inside of the right A pillar. The fuel pump spins up when I turn the key to the on position, but I don't get that...
I'm wondering it the leather seat bottoms on a '96 Disco can be swapped from driver's to passenger's and the other way aroud to get some even use out of them. The backs look like they need to stay on their side, but the bottoms look the same...are thay? Is it easy to remove and install them...
I went last Saturday and it was really cool! Drove the LR3 with Tom Collins on an off-road track...shot some video with my phone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2J14O_6F2Mk

Hey, I went the "Choice of Experts Tour" this Saturday and drove an LR3. See the video I shot on my cell phone here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2J14O_6F2Mk
I have a 88" Series and a Discovery I and I have to say that the LR3 is a sweet ride on and off road.
