    '89 Classic w/ 35K original miles what's it worth?

What do you guys think a southern Red '89 in VGC with factory guards and side steps would go for on Ebay? Looks to have been garaged. Seats don't look like they have even been sat in. Headliner is perfect. If there are no current issues what do you all think it would go for?

Engine Binding after Head Gasket replacement

I tried to start my classic after doing the head gaskets. I could only get 3 or 4 revs and the battery would give out. Tried a known good battery same result. Tried to spin it with a wrench and it wouldn't move w/o extreme effort. I pulled the plugs, no change; loosened the rocker shaft on the...

Head bolt (alternator) snapped during install

:banghead: SO, the head bolt would not torque down and snapped. Good news is that I thought that was what was happening and was being very gentle so it didn't completely separate and I was able to back it out. This was bolt number 10 on the last round of torquing everything down. Can I just get...

Head Gasket let go after 6K miles???

What would cause my head gaskets to let go after only 6K miles? I've been trying to figure out what else it maybe but, as they say, even if you ignore the truth it doesn't change what the truth is. This afternoon I had major bubbles across the top of the radiator relative to revs. I used tin...

Cleaned the IAC now no start!

I cleaned my IAC trying to get a stall problem resolved. I put it back in and it wouldn't start. I pulled the neg battery terminal and turned the ignition on pulled the IAC back out and reconnected the bat terminal, no movement from the IAC. Bought another one from Autozone. Still not starting...

bad reservoir cap or head gaskets?

Blew the temp sensor out on the upper hose this afternoon. I rebuilt the engine about 6K miles ago and have had to add about a pint and a half of coolant in that time which was due to small leaks here and there. There is no bubbling or gurgling and the oil looks good with a stable level. I had...

Rear oil seals (read before motor install)

I've had my motor back in for 1K miles and while doing the oil change today I noticed a drop of oil from the lower trans cover plate weep hole. I'm pretty sure it is from using the smaller ladder backed rear bearing cap seals. I started to send them back but had the same thing from two different...

Space b/t the drive plate and torque converter

I have about 3/16" between my drive plate and torque converter. It seems to me that if I just torque down the bolts it will put undue tortional stress on the crankshaft. Can I used grade 8 washers to shim?

EAS ? after long dormant period

Truck has been sitting for 18 or so months and the EAS has lost all air. When does it pump up? Is it once the motor is started? Considering I am breaking in a motor I will not be able to turn it off for 20 minutes. If there is a problem with the EAS what relay do I pull to keep it from burning...

    tips needed for bellhousing bolts

I have all of them installed except for the ones just out from the top two. I can't seem to feel where they are and even when I do get them in how the hell would you torque them down? There doesn't seem to be any space, even worse than the second one up on the drivers side (damn trans cooler line!)

Anybody know what the specs are for how out of round a 4.2 can be? I now have two blocks that are measuring out of round and want to know how far out can they be before you would just scrap the block?

    allen bolt removal

Allen bolts that are used to hold the drive plate to the crankshaft were WAY over torqued by who ever had the motor out last. Three of them are not budging. I rounded off one of them. Already tried PB Blaster, impact driver and heat with no results. Two questions: 1. How do I remove the one...

4.2 w/ cylinders out of round

Machine shop tells me that the cylinders on the 4.2 that I bought from Specialized British, Rancho Cordova, CA are out of round. From what I understand the 4.2's can't be bored, correct? I have another 4.2 block that I've mic'd and at least the first .75" are round. What are the chances that...

    Head/valve question

New valve stem seals are in and I am checking the seating of the valves by filling the intake and exhaust chambers with windshield washer fluid. I have a couple of intake valves that are not sealing completely. One that has a drop every 5 minutes or so and one that has a drop every 20-30...

    over torqued con rod bolts

I torqued all of my conrod bolts to 50 ft-lbs rather than 50 NM. Should I replace them or will they be fine? Obviously they are now @ 50NM. Thanks, Bill
