    Engine Removal

Getting TC bolts in and out is SO much easier with the pan off, but many people don't want to spend the time removing it.

Alternate engine option for Disco 2

Yes, each motor gets rebuilt as it is prepped for the Discovery.

Alternate engine option for Disco 2

I'm not going to spend any time trying to convince you if your truck is or isn't worth a swap, that's for you to decide. Since you are obviously not inclined to ever go this route, I'm also not going to turn this thread into pages and pages of back and forth banter with you about hypothetical...

Alternate engine option for Disco 2

Yes, those terms and conditions are just for helipilot. I am not affiliated with the Lexus swappers, just showing what you can expect with others that also perform unique automotive services. So I'm just putting it out here, there are other options for D2 when an engine goes south. Thanks...

You're failing to pick up on the not so subtle hints of sarcasm here. Sorry, I guess there is no room for humor in this forum.

These are the terms and conditions just for you: http://www.lexusv8conversions.co.za/p/200877/lexus-v8-conversion--terms-&-conditions

Alternate engine option for Disco 2

If you are faced with an engine replacement situation, buying a reman long block is going to run you about $7000, and by the time you add installation and incidentals you are right there at around $9000 anyway. This is just an alternate option, obviously not for everyone. I do believe it is...

Alternate engine option for Disco 2

This setup is using the existing Bosch 5.2.1 engine management, allowing me to keep every system on the car functioning. With my conversion, you don't lose ABS, Traction Control, HDC, A/C, cruise, ect. Every feature the D2 has before the conversion is retained. The only option I do not...

Alternate engine option for Disco 2

The mileage numbers I have recorded so far have been good. I have been been getting 1-2 MPG better than what my 4.0 would give me in similar driving conditions. Some situations such as low range trail use I believe are returning about the same as what the 4.0 would do. I have not had any...

Alternate engine option for Disco 2

Yes, that means installed in the car, ready for you to drive. That base price is for installation of a 4.8L into a non SAI D2.

Having a bit more available torque allows the torque converter to stay locked up longer, rather than spinning up and creating additional heat. Heat is what really kills transmissions.

Alternate engine option for Disco 2

the complete 4800 conversion starts at $9500, ready to drive. The ZF HP22 and 24 both handle the additional power just fine. I have been driving a converted 2000 D2 for about 9000 miles and it has performed very well.

Alternate engine option for Disco 2

Anybody looking for an alternative to the Rover V8 may be interested in a conversion project I have developed. I have been using the LS based 4.8L GM V8 to replace the 4.0 / 4.6 with very positive results.

Rover is back from rover shop and still wounded

The first thing I saw when it came in the FIRST time, was that SOMEBODY ELSE had popped the tamper plug and been messing with the screw. Backyard hacks messing things up before it ever got to me. So, yes, base idle needs to be checked and reset, and it did fix the car for about a month. I...

Rover is back from rover shop and still wounded

You're correct Scott, I couldn't find the cause of your problems, your Disco kicked my ass. I am disappointed that I couldn't find the problem, but even more disappointed that after all of the time I spent on your car, charging you NOTHING, admitting defeat, you still come here and bad mouth...
