“I should’ve died in my 20s. I became successful in my 40s. I became a dad in my 50s. I feel like I’ve stolen a car — a really nice car — and I keep looking in the rearview mirror for flashing lights. But there’s been nothing yet.” - Bourdain.
RIP ya old pirate.
I have it built in on one of my cars. I love it. Google maps (or waze) on the factory display beats the hell out of the stock nav system. Voice control with Google assistant for the whole thing is really nice. It plays nicely with Spotify and a couple other audio apps I use too. Highly recommended.
A former girlfriend had an E30 BMW that lacked a starter lock out. I was in the habit of turning over the key and stepping on the clutch to start my own car. I took hers to the store one day and came about 4 inches from sending it through the front door of an Autozone thanks to that.
Two years ago I made the decision to jettison the D2 and keep the LR3. For what it's worth, I wish I still had the D2. The LR3 is WAY better for towing and is nicer for long road trips, but it just doesn't have the character of the D2.
I agree completely. My wife just got a 2017 VW and that thing has had me thinking about an LR4 every day because the interior is just bogus on the LR3. I feel like they really sorted out the interior on the LR4. Shit, my D2 was nicer inside.
My experience with that temp gauge is that you can overheat the thing without it moving above "normal." By the time it moves, you're cooked. I think it moves at 245F.
Good info to have. I'm going to watch mine a bit over the course of the Utah trip. Just wanted to get a good base line to compare.
Peter, my 4.6 would run up around 215 going 55 up a 6% grade.
