Others have already suggested to check for fuel pressure; what was the psi on fuel pressure before you removed and after re-installing fuel pump? Normal for a D2 is 50 psi.

My guess is grease coming from the hub unit.

Never had any oil pressure issues. To my knowledge only 2003 had the front cover issue. Only issue I have had with this truck was a premature fuel pump failure at 45k miles. LR dealership covered and replaced the pump under the state/federal emissions warranty. No issues since and no ABS...
