    W124 Class

    Yeah, there are several good independent suppliers. But I've also found that sometimes the local dealer is the best source. Seems to be somewhat irregular, though. When searching for a replacement battery, the local dealer had the best price, but for spark plugs they wanted $25 each. Go figure.

    Brake Job Cost?

    In December 2014, our local independent mechanic replaced discs and pads on all 4 wheels on our 2004 D2. Total cost was $853.45 for parts, labor and tax. Family-owned shop in Kansas City area in its third generation with very good reputation.

    Are these capable of being installed on a D2? I've seen "conversion kits" for sale on Atlantic British to change D2 wipers back to the D1 style. If that works, I'm interested. Tired of fighting with wipers failing in cold, wet weather, like today.

    2004 D2 Purge Valve

    The clicking was alternately loud then soft, fast then slow, sometimes ceasing altogether then resuming, all the time without any relation to engine RPMs. I could hear it while sitting in the vehicle, sometimes even over the road noise while driving. Original purge valve did not click like this...
