Pulling apart my 236k mile Forester and found this inside under all the carbon build up. Motor ran, just replacing the head gaskets. No such markings on the head so i assumed this was a broken belt case somewhere in its life before me I took ownership. But lookingf at the marks they don't look...

I got my from mcmaster carr. The deep version was hardly any deeper than the standard but deep was cheaper??? I got the deep but dont really see a need for it.
