I concur. My heads came off at 200k miles on my RRC, because of piston rings loosing compression, never had a problem with the head(gaskets)

RR>D1/D2 IMO, they aren't comaprable. I've owned 2 D1's and 2 RR's ( RRC + 02 P38), the P38 is LEAPS ahead of any Discovery. Still like the Disco's but they aren't as nice as RR's/

To me that sounds like a deal if its clean. As a P38, you will run into some electrical issues.

Your starter sounds fine? It is 2 bolts if I am not mistaken? Did it on miy old RRC ages ago was easy.

From what I've read, you are wrong. I have the same problem and myunderstanding is that it is infact the display and a replacement is required. Everything lights up on mine, but you can only make out bits and pieces on the display.
