One of the best tools I've bought is the ujoint socket from 4x4ag. Its a 9/16 air drive socket with a thin extension built in to fit in the tight u-joint space. makes getting the driveshaft off a breeze, especially with an air ratchet.
Disconnect the wire going to the MAF, and the truck will run in "limp home" mode. It will run rich, but it will run. You may need a new MAF, but at least for a DII they are not as expensive as for a DI
