Old timer thread got me wondering, what Rover got you onto Discoweb?

My father used to repair his cars, and when I was little I helped him. Once he had noise in a rear wheel bearing on his Plymouth, he lifted it up by the rear axle, started engine and spun rear wheels to confirm noise. Seeing that front wheels resting on the ground did not turn, I was surprised...

Coolant leak from back hose coolant tank

In order to explain why this tank is better here I try to explain: Genuine plastic tank has inside dividing walls with rectangular passages, with perfect vertices. Expansion under pressure produces only in a few months, from each vertex, a fissure that reaches external surface, beginning to...

Coolant leak from back hose coolant tank

D2 plastic tank spare part is the start of a nightmare. I suggest to buy alu tank (for instance Allisport) or to be sure that new one is made by Mahle. If not, you will soon have cracks since genuine spare part is not good. Regards

    Can’t stop a leak

Seals do work against this cylindric rectified surface. Problem is not the easy-to-see groove, but a microscopic edge produced by previous seal's lip. With just a 600 grit sandpaper by turning the piece you can "kill" that edge and there are no surprises later. This procedure is a must every...

    Rear Sunroof Drain Routing

D2 should not have rear axle height much more than front axle. These are not "kinetic design" cars. Then rear hoses will not have trouble to drain water. Regards

    D1 seat bottoms

I found that rear seat backs do have similar pads as front seat backs. Then I toke pads and springs from dismantled rear seats and adapted them to driver's seat. Used small wire hooks from back seats. 5 minute test gave an excellent result. Long trip test still pending, but I´m confident it will...

    Bleeding Clutch Method?

My method needs only a hose. In order to explain I did a graphic help: Cylinder is in horizontal position. When open bleed nipple whitout hose or with a hose to lower position, air will come in to upper side of cylinder. The correct way is with a hose pointing to upper position . When fluid is...

    D1 seat bottoms

Hi, How did it work? I imported this complete rubber diaphragm in order to use it when my original pad deaths, but after years I discovered that imported pads are Classic RR pads, they are useless. I sewed a rubber strap replacing the torn one, but after couple of days from happyness, all was...

Alternator not charging; known good alternator and battery. Any Ideas?

Hi, there is MF1 that cuts alternator charge to the battery. The best way to destroy an alternator is by cutting connections when running. Alternator has coils that have an inductive load. When you cut connection, current they generate cannot find an outlet except through "puncturing" one of...
