In shop for misfire 1,3,5,7. Still not sure if the issue has been found

Hey, So now I will ask some more detail.. Does this happen from when the engine is first started cold? (Open loop) Does it get worse as the engine heats up ? or influenced by heat in any way? Is it actually firing those "dead" cyliners at all?.. if you squirt water on the exhaust...

In shop for misfire 1,3,5,7. Still not sure if the issue has been found

DAG: If you are thinking of testing for clogged cats, you can easily remove the pre-cat O2 sensor to relieve any excess pressure, that should allow you to run and use the engine to see if the misfire goes away. You should check for spark, that will tell the mechanic if the coil pack is working...

    Two more Disco II issues

99 D2 in Canada, I also have a hole in the Passenger side frame rail, nicely hidden behind the cat. Didnt notice until I had the cats off this past summer. Anyone else noticed this ?

    Ooooo-oooo, that smell!

I just had the same "smell" issue on my D2, found that the plastic bleeder screw on the rad hose was weeping a tiny bit, and it would actually drip onto the fan which was spraying the smelly stuff all over. Pull the rad hose out of the plastic clips and see if it's wet underneath.

HELP !!!! NIGHTMARE manual and sports mode lights flashing

Gents, I sank my D2 last summer in quite a bit of mud.. Land rover thought it would be a good idea to mount the trans ECU under the drivers seat in a non-waterproof case (like all of the ecu's). I had to replace the main bcu, ecu and keys. After that was all over and done with, I had the M&S...

Cheap 2" spacers. Need new shocks?

Just to chime in here, I also have a D2 riding on a budget lift using RR Classic Rear springs all the way around, Plus a heavy ARB Winch bumper up front, I can, and have been Thumping the rear stock shocks for over a year now, and they still seem to be holding up. They have no leaks or reduction...

Preventing D2 Front Hub Failure ?

Hey, I have a 1999 Disco 2, and while fitting some new tires I noticed the RF wheel hub has quite a bit of play in it. I have read over the posts here, and have turned up nothing for repair, but now that I have read over all of this information I have been thinking about "preventing failure"...

    Crunching sound in engine

Could be the insides of a catalytic that have broken up.. Ceramic inside of steel??..

    Crunching sound in engine

Slip the serpentine belt off, and let it run without the accessories & have a good listen. After that, If it still exists, I would slide underneath while its running and listen from front of engine to back of trans, as it could be located in there as well. Last summer I found my alternator...

    Troubleshooting '96 LT230 Transfer Case

Had a busted front axle shaft on my 92RR. It would still drive fine, but when you needed the front wheels, nothing was happening... no noise at all, driveshaft was spinning. After I dismantled the front axle I found that the splined part was sitting inside the diff still, and the axle had sheerd...

No codes. No check engine, and 3 SYSTEMS NOT READY!

Utah: Sounds like all of these systems are linked together with a common logic component. Basically these won't become "ready" or "tested OK" until the ECU registers a few things: A> The drive cycles have been completed (sounds like you have) B> Engine coolant has never peaked to the optimum...

Need help from experience LR tech/mechanic

I would have to go with MUSKYMAN, I also think that the cooling system is getting pressurized from the cylinder wall. It may not have slipped, but there could be a crack in the liner. Has this engine been overheated before all this began? Try leaving the cap open while you go for a little...

    SeaFoam

I have used a few treatments of Seafoam in my D2, hoping to fix what turned out to be a cam on the way out... But... after taking my engine apart completely now for a midlife rebuild, I noticed that the heads (intake side) were surprisingly clean of any buildup, this was likely due to running a...

    valve job?

.. Lifter is not bent, I may have been a little bent by the time I removed the cam from the block! Engine is completely stripped, the only thing left in the block is the crank & pistons. All of that can stay mounted, I don't think I am going to get that far into this engine, considering there...

Why the Resentment Towards New Land Rovers?

I would not say the testing is any less, they just deal with a different market.. (Yuppies who don't get dirty), so now you have a nice cd changer/mp3/satellite nav instead of a radio, and a nice riding rig on city streets, which will die quickly when driven on hard terrain. Things usually found...
