I have the parts and the time so here goes nothing. This is a 1997 Disco I CDL shifter and linkage that will be installed in a 2001 Disco II. Any tips or comments along the way are welcome. Im going to start taking it apart now and i will psot pics along the way. If you need a pic of anything inside the console while I have it apart now would be a good time to ask.

Checked the transfer case and did my search on Dweb. Im using Robs thread as a reference. So far so good. It actually goes pretty quick once you get over the fact that you are tearing the console out of the truck. Ill post some pics after i get the console out.

Next remove the trim and four screws for the window controls and tuck the controls inside the hole.

Remove the seat switches. Remove the knobs and unplug the harness. Tuck these into the hole as well. A putty knife worked well to free the clips.

Carefully remove the shifter trim and unplug the mode switch. The switch has a rocker lock so it pivots from the top position towards the rear and pops itself out.

Remove console by lifting and pulling gently toward the rear. It will have to go over the e brake and you have to stop to unplug the cigarette lighter and the wire for its light.

Damn theres a lot of wire in here. This is the foam pulled up to get to the brackest and rivets. Im going back in to start drilling and cutting. It looks like the dI shifter is bigger in diameter than the dII.

From the picture, it looks like you are missing the lever that goes to the actual CDL nipple.
