removing main input bearing housing - 96 d1

Anyone have any hints on removing the main input bearing housing so I can pull the input gear? I took the PTO cover off, and have access to the bearing housing but it just wont move. I do not see any countersunk screws as listed in the manual, but it still will not budge.
