In my ongoing investigations around my recently purchased 02 SE7, I find that one stud is missing on an exhaust manifold

I assume it must have worked it's way out - can't see anything in the service history where they would have had to take the manifold off.

It's not just amissing nut - the whole stud is gone!!!!

So - can I leave it like this without real issue?

Should I try replacing the stud and nut, simply re-threading into the existing hole?

Anyone ever seen this happen before?

If I can't re-thread - is it time for the manifold to come of for a re-tap???

Chris.

Its happend to me twice. Mine started when I bashed the Y pipe on a rock. Thing is, how much did it wobble around before it fell out, and then yes, it may have taken the threads with it. If so, you have to take the manifold off and get it tapped. You can just ignore though - it if you don't mind exhaust leaks. If it were mine, I would get a new stud and nut, try to rethread and go from there.
