Thats not a NATO swiveling hitch, they are more compact and actually mountable on the rear crossmember. I do not want to have to pay shipping from the UK, thus my question here.

I don't know where in the US someone would have one in stock. It'd be a crapshoot methinks.
I do know DAP will add things on their containers so you could probably get one from there if you're willing to wait a few weeks to a month.

You might try the folks who make them to see if they have a distributor here.

If you have no luck with the usual suspects, you might try these folks.

LOL yeah, you can't beat that! If you've never lived with one, be sure to grease it every oil change and spin it round a couple times. Doesn't take long for the northern climes to rust them up. There're two zerks on them.

Glad you were able to find one - but I've got to ask: why?

The lunette hitch on the Sankey rotates anyway....

Now the rear of the Sankey has bolt holes so you could put a hitch on the trailer...you could be pulling your very own train of Sankeys....

Cheers

The lunette does NOT rotate on the wide track version of the sankey. Your not the first to have said it does so it must be a change betwen the narrow track and wide track versions. There is even a plate on top of the surge brake warning you that it is fixed and to use a rotating pintle.

Curious...I had no idea....

Do you (or anyone) have a source to convert the "assembly number" into a date of manufacture?

Cheers

Try contacting PA Blanchard. They specialize in ex MoD Rovers (they even have two Centaurs for sale) , nearly always have Sankey's on hand, and so they might know.

Got one.

Hey Matt,

Duanesburg? Did you move?

Yep I moved, it was too far for Ann to commute from New Lisbon to Albany every day. She ended up putting something like 20k on the car in the first few months this year. Now we live right on route 7 so the commute is a cinch.

I haven't moved the IIa up here yet that is still being stored at my Parent's house, and the ambulance is still at Howard's in limbo as you know. I assume you snagged one of Howard's/Jared's Wide track Sankeys? I think they'll be a better candidate for conversion to an off-road camping trailer than a narrow track Sankey...

Too bad you weren't around when they had a driven axle Sankey there, I can't remember who ended up with that, maybe it was Ben's...

There are a few differences between wide track and narrow track Sankeys- the non rotating lunette and surge brake assembly are one. The Narrowtrack sankeys have more in common with the M416 and earlier bantam type trailers or so it seems. the Wide track Sankeys seem to be more akin to our M101 (Not canadian M101) etc.
