The parts cross reference lists a Wix oil filter, 51068. There are two others, of higher capacity in case people are interested.
The 51515 (which I'm using at the moment) which is the same except 5.178" tall rather than 4.338"
There is also the 51773 (see below) which has a two quart capacity and is 6.982" tall.

They all have the anti-drainback valve and 8-11psi bypass valve.

51068 is the Dodge filter and the 51515 is the Ford Filter... Both very common...

This last oil changed I used the NAPA 1068, which I assume is a NAPA branded Wix 51068. So far so good. Maybe I'll try the larger one next go round.

Thanks for the info.

51515 is also fits 71-96 Landcrusier.
If you want the full list of applications, I can post it...it's about 200 or more engines :p

garrett@pmotorsports.com Garrett can get good deals on the WIX filters, if you buy by the case....But, he may sell them one by one too, I'm not sure.

I paid $4.50 for the 51515's I just bought. Significanlty cheaper than that?

Not significanlty...but, I'm not sure what his "regular" rate is. But, the auto parts store here in town wanted $8.50ea., a K&N was 10 bucks, and a Fram is about $5-6.00....SO your 4.50 is still a pretty good deal.

Still, unless you are going to order a case of filters, or you are ordering other parts from the same place anyway, it's kind of silly to mail order a oil filter....

My sentiments exactly, that's why they'd have to be significantly cheaper.

There was an extensive post about this a long time back that gave specs on all filters. I use the Motorcraft FL-1A, large capacity and has the same amount of filter media as the K&N, has the anti-drain back valve and a presure spring inside. I get them at WallyWorld for $2.99 how much cheeper can you get. I think the web site is theoilguy.com or theoilman.com.

Those 2 sites are not it.

Here is what I was looking at.

I wasn't saying Wix are better or cheaper that others. I know some people like Wix (I've used them for about 30 years when a dealer was handy), so I was just providing some alternates.

The O'Reilly Auto Parts stores stock Wix. The Wix air filter for a DI is actually a Mann filter in a Wix box. I found that to be true on old model Mercedes Benz filters I have gotten at O'Reilly's. All in all Wix is a good brand, as is Mann.

FWIW a local supply house here has the 51773 for $5.83. I'll stop by in the AM and pick one up and put it on at next oil change.

It fits my '95 with no problem. Just up the oil requirement by about 1 - 1 1/2 quarts above what the manual says. YMMV.

What about the air filter? Does anyone know a cross over part for it?

Thanks Mike
